Eligibility Requirements

• 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher.
• Minimum of 30 units completed or enrolled in a graduate program.
• Available to work full-time for a minimum of 8 weeks during the summer in Washington, D.C.
• Must be currently enrolled at Fresno State, CSU Bakersfield, CSU Stanislaus, UC Merced, or an SCCCD community college.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN THE APPLICATION FORM, YOU WILL NEED

This is a chance to showcase your professional writing abilities. Consider the following topics and questions.

• Describe any relevant background or skills that would make you an ideal candidate for this program.
• What experience or interest do you have in public service?
• Describe a time you took initiative or demonstrated leadership. 
• What have you learned from living, working, or attending school in the San Joaquin Valley?
• How will this internship help you achieve your career goals?

Copies of unofficial transcripts are acceptable. Your name and total GPA must appear on the document.

Must upload at least two letters from professional and/or academic references. Alternatively, letter writers may send directly to themaddyinstitute@mail.fresnostate.edu. Letters must be submitted no later than one week after the final application deadline.
